Fishing Team Meeting 09-21-08

3 hours never went so quick as we met together as the "Fishing" team. We had such vibrant discussion concerning sharing our faith and dealing with some of our natural fears when it comes to bringing up the things of God with complete strangers and also with poeple we are close to...like family! Then we got creative and we begain to brainstorm ways in which we could not only have conversations with others, but how we could also serve them! Our principle is simply serve them and make the most of every opportunity! This means being ready to bring up a conversation and knowing what to say if they bring up the conversation about the things of God. So we hashed out some amazing ideas of how we could do both to "Connect Our Community to Christ!" One of the ideas that we will be implimenting on November 4th, is while people are on their way to go vote, we are going to post on our church sign to drive through for a cup of hot chocolate or coffee on their way to vote! We will be open at 6:00a.m. and begin our serive to our community! We will be praying that conversations may be started during this service and seeds be planted! Another idea came out of the fact that we are the only church on Pershing Rd. (a long strip of road with loads of businesses), therefore, we want to radically impact our community as we become more outward focused and go down Pershing Rd. to seek out establishments who are willing to allow us to go in and clean their bathrooms! Wow...and you know what happens when we do this...people will have to ask, why are you doing this...and I can't wait to tell them! All of this, while training "team captains" to go out to the lake and intentionally have concersations with others about the things of God, in order to be able to model for future teams how to use the Law effectively in sharing their faith! What a day! All I have to say is that this ministry of loving poeple, having compassion on people, serving people, training people, equipping people, and meeting people where they are at causes all the other junk that satan throws at us to fade away without even leaving a mark!

Praising God through the storm
Way of the Pastor,
